The Infamous Coco Chanel

The legendary Coco Chanel. Where would this industry be without her? To say that I am inspired by Coco Chanel is merely an understatement. Coco Chanel is by far by favorite designer!! She was more than just a designer. She was an innovator who created classics! "Innovation! One cannot be forever innovating. I want to create classics.”--Coco Chanel

Coco Chanel was also inspiration to many designers. Look at how her designs have developed into a modern look for so many different designers.

This jacket [photo 1] is a style that has been influenced by Coco Chanel’s traditional suit [photos 2 and 3]

The Little Black Dress

The Little Black Dress was first introduced by Coco Chanel [photo 1]. It has now become a “must have” for women’s wardrobe and is seen in very similar styles on stars such as Beyonce [photo 2] and Jennifer Lopez [photo 3]

The Chanel Pearls

The traditional pearls worn with black tops originated with Coco Chanel [photo1] as Anne Hathaway sports in The Devil Wears Prada [photo2]. Now it has become classic sophistication for upcoming designers [photo3].

Chanel also originated the first cap-toe heels [photo 1] and has been inspiration to present designs such as BCBG [photo 2]

How much is too much?

That's right! Show off those shoes Beyonce! And for $4, 175.00 she should show them off. Yes that is exactly what I said: $4,175.00! Then again, they are a sexy pair of sandals. Specifically named “Closed Front Cage Sandals" this work of art was designed by Balenciaga for his Fall 2007 collection. Beyonce is pictured here at the AMA's sporting them with leather and skinny jeans. Quite the look for her. Okay readers, are these sandals worth the price, or did Beyonce overdue it this time? Talk to me...

TREND REPORT!!

Flowers, Anyone?

At first I thought: "No wayy!!! What am I, 10 years old again?" And that's when I saw her: Lily Allen in this gorgeous Prada floral print (curteousy of TV of course). Now I am dedicated to finding a beautiful floral print dress for the fall. Yes, that's right, I said the fall! According to TV, a lovely floral paired with a thick-knit cardigan or a pair of wooly tights in a complementary color will create a fashionable look for the fall. But back to Ms. Lily here. Don't you just love that dress? And the metallic teal pumps and clutch are both to die for. But of course I don't have the money to treat myself to a lovely Prada dress. Here are some AFFORDABLE beauties I came across!

This beautiful satan floral from wetseal for only $22.50. And who can go wrong with a metallic brown snakeskin peeptoe wedge heel and the matching bag? Certaintly I wont!

Lilly is definitely not the only woman who can wear that dress!! Look at Beyonce in this lovely floral and matching shoes! It's a lovely shape for her and of course you can never go wrong with neutral colors.

But of course...there will always be someone who takes the trend overboard!! WHAT WAS RIHANNA THINKING?? A floral... jumpsuit?

Confessions and Obsessions

Obsession: Teen Vogue
It is more than appropriate that the first post of my fashion blog be called "Teen Vogue". I should probably start by explaining my obsession with TV. Well it started some time in high school during Advanced Fashion Marketing, I believe.

It was the best project she had given all year (and trust me she gave some pretty great projects). My teacher had laid out several different fashion magazines. With a partner we had to choose which magazine we wanted to represent. So of course Anthony Hunt and I just HAD to be partners. Together we were dynamite. Who know's maybe we will be the dynamic duo fashion designers one day. So anyway we looked through all of the magazines but there was only one that nearly made me melt. That's right: we chose Vogue magazine.

For the assignment one of us (me) had to be the editor of the magazine and the other (AH) a talk show host. Acting as the editor of that magazine had me lit up. I never had this much fun pretending to be Mommy's doctor or the banker while playing monopoly. I knew right then and there what I wanted to do. I subscribed to the magazine (all of them: Vogue, Teen Vogue and Men's Vogue) and since have become the Vogue Stalker. So of course now, as a college Fashion and Journalism student (see "So who is this fashionista" below) it comes as no surprise that when it was time to choose a company to intern for I instinctively chose TV! I have to intern in the summer...application process begins in January!! I really hope I get it...I definitely know enough about TV to at least land myself an interview. LOL. On a different note; TV is hosting yet ANOTHER Fashion University in October. Of course I applied, are you nuts?
